Overall, it is a nice, satisfying feeling to actually have something in my timeline! I can't wait to get reenactment footage!!
While it is true that I do not have all my interviews in the can yet, I figured I might as well go through the ones I do have and determine which parts I would like to use for sure. I went through the transcripts on Tuesday and marked up my papers some more. Today I have been going through the footage and trying to pare down some of the more extensive interview clips. That can be harder than one might think at first glance. (AND I have to keep reminding myself that this is NOT supposed to read like an essay. I am still catching phrases that would sound fine in an essay but not so grand in a documentary.) I really don't think I need too many more interviews. I know that I have a couple more coming up, but after that I think I'll close the door on th. Documentaries can rely too heavily on interviews... Plans are churning for us to attend a reenactment in October! We will be able to get video footage of battles, around the campfires, and hopefully interviews with knowlegable reenactors! Savannah and I will be going up and staying with the reenactors. We are going to dress in period dress--so we don't look totally out of place (besides that we like dressing up); so some sewing is going to have to be done. Special thanks goes to Miss Erica Little and her reenacting friends for bringing the Skirmish at Chipco Crossing to my attention and opening up the opportunity to us. I look forward to it! Racheal |
