After having read my latest version of my narration to my most trusted critic, it has been determined that the next step in this documentary making process is to start contacting potential interviewee's. I have a short list of people that I need to make contact with. I will start that process soon...

Research and writing continues. Currently I am reading a book called Rebel Storehouse which is about Florida during the War Between the States. I haven't reached the Cow Cavalry yet, but so far the rest of the book has been enjoyable and informative, providing some background for my story that I was not aware of; or if I was, just barely. I have started the third draft of my narration. Reading, revision, rest...the inevitable cycle of writing. To be quite honest, I am having problems with it not sounding like an essay! I need to make a point of reading it out loud between revisions. It is amazing how many times that I catch a repetion of words simply by reading something out loud. (For instance, I have four or five 'war/s' in the course of two or three sentences. Silently, it doesn't stick out; but audibly, it grates.) This cycle will continue until I have everything locked, which is going to be awhile yet. I try to remember the good counsel I recieved last fall: "Do your best, tell it well. Don't think you have to make it x-minutes long. Tell your story in as few words as possible." This is what I am trying to do! Soli Deo Gloria, Racheal |
