My next task then is to read the material he gave me and transcribe the audio I recorded. Once I do that I can refine the narration some more. I'd better get to work!
While we did not determine when the formal interview will be, I consider Saturday's meeting a success. Mr. Hendry gave me another stack of stuff to read...much of it off of some websites that no longer exist. (Or if they do are so garbled that you can't make much headway.) I have a better understanding of what he knows and what to expect from him in an interview. I also figured out where to place him. Mr. Hendry talks with his hands, which will add interest to the video. My next task then is to read the material he gave me and transcribe the audio I recorded. Once I do that I can refine the narration some more. I'd better get to work!

Tomorrow I am meeting with Mr. Hendry, a direct decendent of Captain Hendry of Cow Cavalry fame, for a pre-interview session. There I hope to get the formal interview set up, as well as determine where I will interview him. (He suggested the conference room in his office; I am planning on that at this point.) Once that is determined, I will figure out where I want to place him, the lights, and the camera. I plan on asking if he has any pictures of his grandfather and/or old Florida that I might use. Last, but not least, I will give him a few particulars as to how the interview will be conducted. I am not going to be in the frame nor in the final cut of the interview. With this being the case, I will need him to include the question in his response to it. For instance, question 1 asks for a summary of the War Between the States between the years 1863 and 1865. I need him to bring the essence of the question into the answer. The excitment mounts! RachealAfter having the animation preset I was attempting to use as a background not work like I wanted it to, I decided to build one from scratch. I'm fairly pleased with how it came out. I changed the font I was planning on using, as well as the color scheme, because it didn't show up on the background very well. Building compositions can be quite fun! (I imagine it will become even more fun once I learn the in's and out's of my program better.) Hopefully, this upcoming Saturday, I can meet with the gentleman who has agreed to be interviewed. From there we will set up an official interview date. I am looking forward to getting interview footage. RachealYes, I have started to build the visuals. Even though I have no footage shot yet, I figured that I could get a head start with my After Effects compositions. So far I have completed one composition. I had to all of it twice and part of it once more. First because I had things set up wrong and secondly because a certain aspect wasn't behaving like I thought it should. (Perhaps it was and I just don't know any better.) I did run into a road-block of sorts today as well. The pictures I had collected off the internet for use on this project are too poor of quality. That entails that I have to dig deeper in other sources and/or purchase copies of the images. Neither is really that large of a hinderance, but it was somewhat discouraging this morning when I sat down to work with the material only to find out that it wasn't good enough! I am quite excited to start working with the visual aspect of this documentary! Racheal |
